Expertise in Firesetting Behavior Assessment

FirePsych’s clinical staff has completed over 1,500 firesetting behavior evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults over the past 25 years, establishing them among the most experienced practitioners in the country and incorporating recent research-driven specialized protocols tailored to the unique needs of adolescent females, adults with serious mental illness, and ID/DD individuals.

Using evidence-informed structured decision making (SDM) protocols, created from careful review of theory and research literature, FirePsych assessments provide detailed descriptions of contributing risk factor profiles for each client, a formulation of the purpose and motivation of the behavior, and an intervention and treatment plan designed specifically to address dynamic risk factors to reduce potential for continued firesetting.

  • incorporate several standardized measures of behavior, personality,  and fire attitudes and beliefs
  • are completed in a timely and professional manner
  • provide treatment and intervention recommendations specific to firesetting behavior and contributing co-morbid conditions
  • are completed according to “best practice” standards

"The FRAT-Y has become an invaluable resource in our clinical practice, helping us organize complex information into accurate, reliable, and defensible recommendations. It has significantly strengthened our ability to assess risk and inform intervention planning — we strongly recommend it to any organization seeking to improve the quality and reliability of youth firesetting assessments."
